| Mission |  THE BLUE CHAIR What is the Relationship Between Blue Monarch and The Blue Chair? The Blue Chair is involved in a unique collaboration between a non-profit and for-profit working together. The Blue Chair believes it is important for businesses to accept social responsibility and become part of the solution for women who have experienced difficulty obtaining and maintaining employment due to their unfortunate and harmful life circumstances. The Blue Chair is proud to be a part of the mission of Blue Monarch by providing on-site employment to the women who reside there. This opportunity allows the women to earn money while participating in the program, and also learning good work ethic to take with them to their next job. The Blue Chair is willing to provide the necessary flexibility, and work with the natural inconsistencies of the daily schedules and challenges while the women are undergoing the difficult process of becoming stronger, healthier and self-sufficient. This business arrangement and collaboration also allows the women the opportunity to leave with a good work record and job reference for their placement in a job upon graduating from the Blue Monarch program. The Blue Chair teaches an intensive nine-week Work Ethics Course to each Blue Monarch resident who has demonstrated a required level of responsibility. Successful completion of this course is necessary for obtaining employment through The Blue Chair and has been hugely successful in developing healthy work habits and a better understanding of basic work ethic. The women are employed by The Blue Chair to bake granola, which is sold in markets and restaurants in Nashville, Chattanooga, Monteagle, Sewanee, Huntsville, and Asheville. Some of the women are also employed at The Blue Chair café in Sewanee. So by purchasing granola from The Blue Chair, you are doing more than just that.
